spooky halloween

i love to love halloween and so does jude. he is obsessed with all things halloween. i ordered his costume(s) in july. i know it was early but i had to decide what he would be. i ordered 3 different costumes and we chose Nemo. i have had to hide it in my closet the past 3 months but i am so glad it got some use today.

jude had a doctor's appointment for his birthmark at primary children's and his costume was worn all day. here is his playing with the kitchen in the waiting room, i knew i made the right decision about the kitchen for his birthday.

p.s. primary children's is a great place to trick or treat. jude hit the jack-pot. i figured when in rome......

minie as minnie mouse. remember that brooke is my sidekick and we are always together, doctor's appointments and all.

we had the now annual how to host a murder party at my mom's house. trevan was a german wine dealer, i was a scottish novelist, and jude was nemo. as it turns out finding a costume at nearly 5 months pregnant is not easy.

wahoo for trevan in his lederhousen!

aren't we adorable? sick, get me out of there.

nemo, minnie mouse, and the ladybug.

otto and ralph.

pumpin' carving

this year we carved our pumpkins with my family at nannie's house. it was a bit of a competition and lets just say we didn't win but got an A for effort.

handsome senor and a drunk on love jude

brookie's job was to clean the pumpkin and it was a job she did not take lightly..... as you can tell in this picture.

this was vanessa's first year carving pumpkins and as usual she was abnormally good for a rookie.

i think jude was a little offended to find out what was truly inside pumpkins. he hasn't looked at them the same since....

if i remember correctly, brad won the contest. he also however spent the most time on his, go figure.

i have never been artistic or crafty but everything i do comes from the heart. take for example the pumpkin i carved for jude......

.... he found it disgusting.

happy birthday to me.....

so i turned 25 on the 28th of october and i must say, i feel really young to be 25. its so funny because i still think i am 18 most of the time. i work with some young 18 year old girls and i am like "hey! i am your same age!" and then i realize, wait i am a 25 year old mother of soon to be 2 children. its okay, i am not sad or anything. i love my life and i can honestly say that i have had a great 25 years.

everyone ( i mean everyone) gathered for my birthday at rock creek pizza in sandy. if you haven't been there i would highly recomend it. it is a gregory family find and it is worth it. anyway, we ate food and talked all night. it was a great time. i felt so loved that all these people would come to celebrate me, or maybe just to eat. anyway, it was a great birthday and i love my family.

ernie, polly, rog, lando, momo, terni, mark, tiffani, chris, eileen, tim, mike, pam, johnnie belle, brooke, dustin, minie, brad, vanessa, gabi, nate, paige, trevan, and jude. i don't think i left anyone out.

jude loves his mama

ok... so i got totally spoiled with presents. seriously, i don't think i have gotten that many presents in like 15 years. it was totally unnecessary and totally nice.

what?

just because jude looks better naked in a home depot apron doesn't mean you can't love him. he just wants to help build and fix things, clothed or not.

just had to document

i love this little gem that nannie bought for jude. it has a different hat to go with it that coordinates better but it was a little colder than we anticipated.

i love this time of year for a number of reasons. i love it even more now that i have jude. he is so amazed by everything. i know its his age but i have never had toddler before. he makes living worth while, among other things.

searching, wishing, and hoping

so brooke and i went stroller shopping again and were victorious. this time we hit up the more high end stores (not by choice, i am always willing to save some flow) and were able to try our some other options. usa baby had quite a few options, tons actually but they all were the same. we either wound up pushing a motorhome or ran into this problem.......

...jude attacking minie or at least on the verge of it in this photo. jude liked the side by side mclaren and it did have some nice features but still had the hefty price tag of $500. i am afraid if i buy a side by side my newborn will not live to see its 3 mo. birthday with how jude will be with it, way too excited. plus, what if jude doesn't want to roll with us in the stroller?

hello dusty, i mean minie!

jude yelling at brook for her to put minie back in the stroller with him.

ALAS......
we went to babinskis and lo and behold they had my dream stroller, the phil and ted's sport duo buggy. as told in a previous post. we got to try it out and it truly is AMAZING!!!!! really, you have no idea that a stroller can be so versatile. oh, and to those of who worry about the back seat passenger, jude threw a 15 minute, inconsolable tantrum when i took him out of it. he loved being back there in his own "pod". so although it is WAY out of my price range i will find a way to get it. i am in love with something materialistic, what have i become.

p.s. minie and brooke will second everything i have said above. i tell no lies.......

future baseball player???

if jude were good at baseball it would fulfill trevan's lifetime dream. don't ask me about the fall tv line up because there is nothing but the world series on at my house. here jude is sporting his first cup, perfect fit.

yaya, momo, and the witches

we are somewhat starting a tradition of having grandma day with yaya every once and a while. jude couldn't be happier. today we went to gardner village to see the witches and pumpkins with the rest of the state of utah. it was crazy busy but we still had fun. after seeing the witch that had flown in the silo jude starting running around asking every witch "you tay (okay)"? he is a sweet boy and getting so handsome i think.

eouuuuuuuuuuu! as jude would say

i am afraid it was a little bit of an awkward moment for the pumpkin....

jude sure does love his yaya. he loves both of his grandma's immensely and sometimes gets their names mixed up. even though he did come up with terri's "yaya".

the burn victim

well we almost made it to the 2 year mark without a trip to the ER. the other day while i was at nate and paige's making dinner jude decided to put his hand & arm in the oven. i was standing right there, right in front of the oven just pulling out the garlic bread (thats right, broil setting) when POW there is jude on my right side with his left arm leaning right on top of the oven door. poor baby knows that ovens are hot but just wanted to help. the picture above is 2 days post oven accident. i wasn't in the right mind frame the day of.

i got to him before the burning sensation started but not 1 second later he started feeling it. he was screaming bloody murder ( for a good cause). we put his arm under the cold faucet then tried to dry it off when i noticed all of the skin on his forearm had melted away. paige luckily had a 1st aid kit with some burn creme in it and gauze, so i wrapped it as good as i could an ran out the door. i called my doctors office and they told me since it was on the palm and that skin was taken off that i needed to take him to the emergency room. so i drove from rose park to cottonwood hospital at about 110 mph (not kidding). we arrived at the emergency room both sobbing our eyes out. the good news about going to the ER with toddler who is screaming from a burn is that they get you right back.

to make this long story short. jude suffered 2nd degree burns on his forearm, palm, and a few finger tips. some areas are worse than others. the ER doctors sedated him before the started debriding it (taking off the skin) but it was still the hardest thing i ever had to go through, and i am sure it was for jude too. he is doing well, mostly because he is on pain medication. yet, it never ceases to amaze me how resilient kids are. we all know how bad burns hurt. he is my hero.
i made trev stay home from work the next day because we had to take him back to the docotrs to do some more debridement and change is bandages. it takes both of us to hold him down. plus, he needed some TLC.

we took jude to a pumpkin patch before we took him back to the doctor. he was in 7th heaven, regardless of his burn.

poor guy can't get up by himself

jude having a ball with his pumpkin we bought him to cheer him up. who would know that he was in serious pain? you have to love codine......

getting ready for mommie to change his dressing

open wound. this is it looking really good 2 days later.

he loves his new green cast

tool belt love

we live in a bit of a fixer-upper. too bad we are not so much fixer-upper people. we are remodeling the basement currently and trevan bought himself a tool belt the other day. when jude saw his he knew he needed his own on. i think my boys are pretty cute in tool belts.

as you can tell the kitchen is next on the remodeling list......
